Coastal Carolina (3-3) looks to beat Auburn (3-1) for the second consecutive meeting.
Auburn comes to Coastal this year hoping to continue their success from this season. Lights out point guard Kareem Canty, scoring just under 20 a game, leads Auburn in their quest to avenge their home loss to Coastal last season. Auburn has good depth with four players averaging double figures and some big bodies that are a force on the glass.
The Chants are looking to rebound from a tough loss where they blew a late lead on the road at Campbell. Elijah Wilson leads Coastal and is fresh off achieving the 1000 point milestone. Coastal has three others averaging double figures as well that are going to need to be on point in order to win.
The Chants have always had strong guard play and have held their own, and even shined in big games. The biggest challenge for Coastal is going to be rebounding the ball against a power conference opponent. Diagne leads Coastal with seven rebounds a game. He is going to need to have a big day on the glass for the Chants. This game is going to be a good measuring stick for Coastal as they get set to move up to the Sun Belt Conference next year.
Coastal’s two keys to victory is going to be keeping Auburn off the offensive glass and limiting their second chance points and shooting well from the perimeter. The wildcard is going to be the HTC Center atmosphere. Students have had this game circled on their calendars all semester. Expect it to be LOUD!
