Providence College takes on Notre Dame this weekend two times at Schneider Arena in Providence, as the Friars look to climb into the top spot of the Hockey East with just four games to go in the season. The team that currently sits on top is none other than Notre Dame.
The Friars, who are the reigning National Champions, looked like they would be able to do it all again at Christmas Break, but they then started to slide a bit. The team dropped from first in the nation to being ranked seventh at one point in the season. However, over the past two weeks, the team has been able to climb back to fifth in the nation, and once again look like a force to be reckoned with.
This weekend does promise to be a tough one for the Friars as they host the Fighting Irish who are currently ranked seventh in the nation. However, the Friars have so far not lost in the month of February and are currently 4-0 this month. In order to climb into the top spot, they will need a little help from Vermont, who will need to beat Boston College. No matter what happens, the Friars have been hot and look poised to make a run come March.
