About ATB Sports

After the Buzzer Sports is here to give a fresh, new perspective on sports, and to bridge the generational gap between media and millennials. We give a personalized experience to the student body at each school we cover, and to readers beyond.”

Ryan Ilardi (President) – I am the founder of After the Buzzer Sports. Sports have been my whole life, whether it’s watching, playing on a team, or just playing pickup games. I am super competitive and love to play just about every sport I try. My favorite teams are the Mets, Islanders, Jets, and Knicks. My favorite sports to play are Baseball, Golf, Hockey and Basketball.

I am from Garden City, New York. I grew up on Long Island, attending Kellenberg Memorial H.S. where I set a school record for gross score and total holes under par in a season my senior year. I then moved on to the PGA Professional Golf Management program at Coastal Carolina University. I have completed two internships as of 2015 and I am more than half way to becoming a Class A-1 PGA Professional. I have taken my competitiveness from the course to the business world where I am using my passion for sports to fuel a new business where college age students can get involved to grow their resume and their knowledge bank to prepare them for the future.

John Horrigan (VP of Production, Senior Editor) – I am John Horrigan, a sophomore Marketing major at Coastal Carolina University with strong interests in both Sports Management and Sports Writing. I am the Senior Editor and VP of Production at ATB Sports, assisting in day-to-day production and editing all content on our website. I assisted in founding ATB with CEO Ryan Ilardi, being a strong advocate and supporter of this venture since day one. Ryan’s desire to deliver sports stories from a different, more unique perspective led us to the creation of ATB.

Being from Franklin, MA has molded me into a die-hard New England sports fan, whole-heartedly supporting the Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox year round, and of course the Bruins once the playoffs start just like most Boston fans will admit. I have played sports my whole life, including baseball, football, basketball and lacrosse, with my favorite to play being basketball and favorite to watch being football. From a young age, I have had a passion for all sports, whether it be watching or playing. This passion for sports combined with my interests in writing has led me to this experience, and I hope to effectively share my opinions and views with sports fans all around.

Bryce Braswell (VP of Social Media) – My name is Bryce Braswell and I’m a junior Exercise and Sports Science major from the Charlotte, NC area, graduating in the fall. I have a great passion for sports, so much that when I graduate I intend on getting a job in the Strength and Conditioning field. I hope to start work somewhere at the collegiate level, with dreams of hopefully working my way up to the professional level. Owning and running my own gym is also something that I aspire of doing in the future.

I’m a diehard UNC and Carolina Panthers fan with blue running through my veins. If I had to pick my favorite sport it would be wrestling, as I was involved with it competitively for 7 years. I also enjoy the sports entertainment business (yes, WWE) as well as the UFC, being a big Jon Jones and Johnny Hendricks fan because of their wrestling backgrounds. My goal as a part of this company is not only to share my view of sports with others but to hopefully make people appreciate sports as much as I do.

Mike Fritz (Buzz Insider) – I’m Mike Fritz, a 19 year old sophomore at Sacred Heart University, located in Fairfield, CT (even though none of us are fooled, we’re in the City of Dreams).  You’ve probably seen me as the loud kid in his fraternity jacket or shirt and tie, but let me tell you a little about myself.  I’m a proud brother of Omega Phi Kappa Fraternity, and self-proclaimed band geek, playing in SHU’s marching, pep, and concert band. With the band, we’ve traveled along the northeast, like Buffalo, and as of late, Dingle and Dublin, Ireland. I rock the Baritone Sax, as well as playing gigs often around campus with my guitar and vocal chords.

When I’m taking a break from music, I’m usually engulfed in my sports teams: NY Yankees, NY Rangers and NY Giants. Club Golf team fanatic and Intramural Dek Hockey Sniper, so they say. If I’m not booing the Islanders and the Mets, it’s because I’m watching a PGA tournament. And yes, I find the Masters more enjoyable than the Super Bowl. Ain’t no band wagoner, I’ve been a Rickie Fowler addict since 2011, just ask CEO Ryan Ilardi. I write to get my views and opinions to the readers, and to give a little twist to just all other generic articles. Hopefully your mind won’t be as twisted as mine after reading.

Jared Yellin (Buzz Insider) – My name is Jared Yellin, and I am a sophomore Sports Management and Communications double major at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. At school, I have been actively involved in many sports events on campus and have been an active member of the sports management club. I grew up in Franklin, MA and have been surrounded by sports ever since I was young. I have enjoyed playing numerous sports growing up, with my favorite sport to play being basketball. Although I grew up surrounded by die hard New England sports fans my entire life, including my ruthlessly competitive best friends, my sports allegiance revolves around all New York teams, specifically the Jets, Yankees, Rangers, and Knicks.

Being involved in the sports industry has always been a passion of mine, as I have constantly studied and analyzed the games from a very young age. I thoroughly enjoy discussing numerous sports topics with others and I am always open to spirited debates on these topics. Writing about sports has always been of interest to me and I have always motivated myself to put out my best work possible. I tend to be a very dedicated writer who is never afraid to speak his mind on a particular issue. I have greatly appreciated being able to write for After the Buzzer Sports and I am glad to share my thoughts with everyone on these sports topics!

Kevin Troy (Buzz Insider) – My name is Kevin Troy, and I am a student at Providence College in Rhode Island. I am originally from New York and am a diehard New York Rangers and New York Giants fan, but the team that I love the most is the New York Mets. I live for the Mets and some of my friends say they wouldn’t be able to recognize me if I didn’t have on my blue and orange hat. Any chance that I get I try and watch my teams play, which can be hard since they are rarely shown here in New England.

Growing up, I played almost all sports, but when it came to high school, I cut back a decent amount. I played basketball for my high school freshman and sophomore year, but never made varsity. However, I did continue to play outside of school. I played one season of football in high school and started at wide receiver. Then, outside of school, I have played roller hockey my whole life. I love sports and can’t get enough of them!

Tommy Ilardi (Buzz Insider) – My name is Tommy Ilardi, and I’m a Freshman Business major at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. I’m a middle infielder in baseball and also play hockey. Since I’m a huge fan and play hockey and baseball, I usually like to write mostly about those two sports. For baseball, I’m a huge fan of the New York Mets, and for hockey, I’m all about the Islanders. I can’t stand the Yankees and Ranger. And although I don’t play football, the Jets are still my team. I am excited to write for ATB Sports and hope to share my strong views with readers everywhere!

Mike Gress (Buzz Correspondent) – My name is Mike Gress, and I was born in Flemington, New Jersey and raised in the sweetest place on earth, Hershey, Pennsylvania. I am currently a Business Management major with a specialization in PGA Professional Golf Management at Coastal Carolina University. Sports have been a significant part of my life ever since a golf club was put into my hands when I was 2 years old. I grew up playing golf, football, basketball and baseball, and always felt like if I was going to play these sports I should know what they’re all about. So from there on out, I would watch ESPN 4 times a day during the summer and would be glued to the television whenever there was a marquee matchup or one of my favorite teams was playing.

Derek Jeter and Tiger Woods were the two biggest athletes I followed growing up (yes I’m a Yankees fan because of that) and it just snowballed from there. I also began following Kobe and John Elway as a young child. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my involvement in sports. I am very passionate and take a lot of pride in the teams I follow, but will always watch any team because of my love for the competitive spirit of the game.

J.T. Barras (Soccer Correspondent) – I am currently a junior at Coastal Carolina University from a small town in Southwest Illinois. I am pursuing a degree in Accounting, while specializing in PGA Golf Management. I have never really been much of a writer, but I think that is because I have never found anything I have a true passion for, until now with English Premier League soccer. I’ve been an avid fan of the EPL for more than two years, and almost never miss the games on the weekends. My two older brothers are actually the reason why I got into watching in the first place.

People think I am crazy for waking up before seven o’clock in the morning to watch soccer on Saturdays and Sundays because the games are played in England. This makes me think they are crazy for not at least trying it first before judging. The team I grew most fond of is Liverpool Football Club. In the last two years, I have only missed about five or six games of over one hundred games played. In addition to the EPL, I’ve watched American Football and Baseball for as long as I can possibly remember. I am a huge St. Louis Cardinal fan and until recently I supported the St. Louis Rams, but since they are moving to L.A., things have changed and haven’t quite decided if I will keep supporting them or not.

Dan Celauro (Buzz Insider) – I’m Daniel Celauro, and I grew up in Merrick, NY on Long Island. As a huge sports fan, I love baseball, basketball, football, and hockey. I have been a New York Met fan for as long as I can remember, and they are a huge part of my life. Over the past ten years, I have also become a big fan of the New York Jets, New York Knicks and New York Islanders. I am a season ticket holder for the Mets and Jets, so I love to attend games. I am currently a junior at SUNY Cortland, and want to eventually go into a career in Sports Management. I’ve always wanted to get into sports writing and am so excited for this opportunity to inform you, the reader, on the best sports stories of our time.

Colin Homola (Buzz Correspondent) –  I am Colin Homola, and I am a junior at the University of Scranton. I am from Amityville, Long Island, and went to Kellenberg Memorial High School.  I play soccer at the University of Scranton where I play goalkeeper, and my favorite sports are baseball, soccer, and basketball, but I watch just about every sport out there.  My major is exercise science and I plan on going to graduate school to become a physical therapist. Currently, I am interning in the strength and conditioning department with the Lackawanna College football team, a top level Junior College.  My favorite teams are Chelsea FC, the Mets, Islanders, Jets, and Knicks.  I am also co-founder of NYMetsFanBase on Twitter.
